Kotex Rebate

Thanks Sherry for reminding me about the Kotex rebate. I had already entered the panty challenge but had forgotten about the $4.00 rebate. If you want to participate in the Kotex panty challenge go here: the end of your week Kotex will send you an email to rate their product. You have to put that you were NOT satified in order to get the rebate form. Even more savings!

Ordering Coupons

I just ordered 20 coupons from for Quaker Instant Oatmeal packets. My husband and daughter eat these every morning for breakfast so I thought this was a great opportunity to stock up. I also send them to my sister who lives overseas. I have never done this before and am not sure if this is the best site but wanted to check out how it works. My total for 20 coupons was $3.45. If anyone has experience with ordering coupons like this I would love to hear about it.

Macy's 80% Savings

I am so excited. I was able to get a great deal on an 8 piece comforter set I've been watching at Macy's for over a month. It was originally priced at $100. It was already marked down 50%($49.99) and then a friend gave me her $10 of $30 coupon. When they rang it up it was even further reduced to 70% off which made it $29.99 so I had to purchase a Godiva chocolate bar to put my purchase above $30 to use my coupon. I paid $23.47 for my comforter, sheets/pillow cases, bedskirt, shams and the chocolate.

Favorite Recipe

Green Chile-Chicken Casserole

1 1/3 cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
1 cup canned chopped green chiles, drained
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup fat-free sour cream
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 (10 1/2-ounce) cans condensed 98% fat-free cream of chicken soup, undiluted (such as Campbell's)
1 garlic clove, minced
Cooking spray
24 (6-inch) corn tortillas
4 cups shredded cooked chicken breast (about 1 pound)
2 cups (8 ounces) finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350°.

Combine the first 9 ingredients in a large saucepan, stirring with a whisk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

Spread 1 cup soup mixture in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange 6 tortillas over the soup mixture, and top with 1 cup chicken and 1/2 cup cheese. Repeat layers, ending with the cheese. Spread remaining soup mixture over cheese. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

Our family has many favorite foods. We love to have friends and family over and sit around our kitchen table for meals and great conversation.

OK, it's time to get on with this blog. I have had many ideas about what and why I should do this. In the past 6 weeks, since I started this blog, I have been praying and thinking about what I could share with others that would give honor to God and blessing to the readers. I have procrastinated about continuing because I really don't know much about the blog world but I am going to forge ahead and learn as I go. As a middle age woman who has raised her children I have found by reading other money saving blogs that many of the authors are young mothers finding a way to live frugally so that they can stay home with their children. I would like to share with my readers what I have learned, good and bad, as I raised my children and the lessons that God continues to teach me as I make this journey.
