Ordering Coupons

I just ordered 20 coupons from http://www.couponhunter.com for Quaker Instant Oatmeal packets. My husband and daughter eat these every morning for breakfast so I thought this was a great opportunity to stock up. I also send them to my sister who lives overseas. I have never done this before and am not sure if this is the best site but wanted to check out how it works. My total for 20 coupons was $3.45. If anyone has experience with ordering coupons like this I would love to hear about it.

Macy's 80% Savings

I am so excited. I was able to get a great deal on an 8 piece comforter set I've been watching at Macy's for over a month. It was originally priced at $100. It was already marked down 50%($49.99) and then a friend gave me her $10 of $30 coupon. When they rang it up it was even further reduced to 70% off which made it $29.99 so I had to purchase a Godiva chocolate bar to put my purchase above $30 to use my coupon. I paid $23.47 for my comforter, sheets/pillow cases, bedskirt, shams and the chocolate.

Favorite Recipe

Green Chile-Chicken Casserole

1 1/3 cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
1 cup canned chopped green chiles, drained
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup fat-free sour cream
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 (10 1/2-ounce) cans condensed 98% fat-free cream of chicken soup, undiluted (such as Campbell's)
1 garlic clove, minced
Cooking spray
24 (6-inch) corn tortillas
4 cups shredded cooked chicken breast (about 1 pound)
2 cups (8 ounces) finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350°.

Combine the first 9 ingredients in a large saucepan, stirring with a whisk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

Spread 1 cup soup mixture in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange 6 tortillas over the soup mixture, and top with 1 cup chicken and 1/2 cup cheese. Repeat layers, ending with the cheese. Spread remaining soup mixture over cheese. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

Purpose

OK, it's time to get on with this blog. I have had many ideas about what and why I should do this. In the past 6 weeks, since I started this blog, I have been praying and thinking about what I could share with others that would give honor to God and blessing to the readers. I have procrastinated about continuing because I really don't know much about the blog world but I am going to forge ahead and learn as I go. As a middle age woman who has raised her children I have found by reading other money saving blogs that many of the authors are young mothers finding a way to live frugally so that they can stay home with their children. I would like to share with my readers what I have learned, good and bad, as I raised my children and the lessons that God continues to teach me as I make this journey.
